The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) has alleged that the Telangana government has insulted women by making them wash the feet of the Miss World 2025 contestants.
In a letter to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, BRS women leaders, including Sabitha Indra Reddy, Sunita Laxma Reddy and Kova Laxmi, MLAs and former Minister Satyavathi Rathod, asked her whether the Congress party would continue to support a Chief Minister whose actions, they claim, undermine the dignity of Telangana’s women on a daily basis.
In their appeal to Ms. Gandhi, they recalled her vision at Telangana’s formation that the State would stand as a beacon of self-respect, and reminded her to make CM A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress issue an unconditional apology.
The BRS leaders also termed the incident a shameful betrayal of Telangana’s pride and identity. It reduced Dalit and tribal women’s pride and also undermined the sacrifices made for the Telangana struggle. They also said the Congress government exposed its servile mindset.
BRS also alleged that atrocities against women were a pattern of disrespect in Telangana and recalled incidents like the treatment of ASHA workers demanding promised benefits and unsavoury comments against Ms. Indra Reddy in the Assembly, among others.
