A four-member common intelligence team will be formed to streamline inter-departmental information flow between the Telangana Excise and Drug Control departments. The unit will focus on monitoring drug trafficking patterns, both online and offline, and enhancing cooperation between enforcement wings.

The decision was taken at a coordination meeting between the two departments at Abkari Bhavan in the city on Friday. Director of Prohibition and Excise Shahnawaz Qasim said that special attention should be paid to industrial, forensic labs, joint training, raids, WhatsApp groups, and drug trade taking place on the internet.

He recommended a comprehensive action plan booklet outlining a ‘route map’ for integrated enforcement strategies. He also stressed on coordinated efforts between departments to pave the way for effective enforcement of rules.

The meeting brought together senior officers from both the Excise and Drug Control departments, who discussed the urgent need for joint operations and a structured approach to tackle drug trafficking and abuse.
