KURNOOL: Dr K. Chitti Narasamma, principal of Kurnool Medical College and additional director of medical education, stressed the critical importance of the “golden hour” in treating heart attacks and the need for continuous skill enhancement among doctors.
Speaking on Saturday at a two-day training programme on “Comprehensive Cardiac Life Support” organised for postgraduate students by the department of anaesthesia, she said that early intervention during golden hour significantly improves treatment outcomes.
She highlighted that by equipping doctors with the latest techniques and knowledge, they can ensure accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment, thereby saving lives. The training is aimed at empowering PG students to respond effectively in cardiac emergencies, she added.
Government General Hospital Superintendent Dr K. Venkateswarlu pointed out that public misconceptions about heart attacks often lead to delays in treatment and said that through such specialised training, doctors can act swiftly in emergencies, providing immediate and effective care. Deputy superintendent Dr Sriramulu, head of the anaesthesia department Dr Vaishala, and 44 postgraduate doctors participated in the training.
