Suzuki South Africa has launched the Dzire subcompact sedan at R224,900 (approx. Rs 10.66 lakh). Visually, the South-African model looks similar to the India-spec Maruti Dzire, but lacks some features such as a 360-degree camera, push-button start/stop, wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof and leatherette-wrapped steering wheel. Although, the major distinguish factor is the presence of a CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic gearbox. In South Africa, the compact sedan is offered with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine and two gearbox options – a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

In India, the Maruti Dzire is available with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol and petrol-CNG fuel options. While the petrol motor pushes out a maximum power of 82PS and a peak torque of 112Nm, the petrol-CNG unit offers 70PS and 102Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard, while a 5-speed AMT is exclusively offered with the petrol version.
Differences & Similarities:
Apart from the CVT transmission, the South Africa-spec Dzire features projector halogen headlamps (instead LED units) and black 15-inch alloy wheels (instead dual-tone units). Inside, the compact sedan has a dashboard with a silver trim along with a smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Both the South Africa and India-spec Maruti Dzire come equipped with beige fabric seat upholstery, automatic AC unit with rear AC vents, cruise control, 6 airbags, ABS with EDB, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and Isofix child seat anchorages.
Prices & Competition In India:
In India, the Maruti Dzire is available in 9 variants, priced from Rs 6.84 lakh to Rs 10.19 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Here, it takes on the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor.
In March 2025, the carmaker introduced the Dzire Tour S (LXi) for the fleet buyers, available in both petrol and CNG fuel options. The petrol LXi version is priced at Rs 6.79 lakh, while the LXi CNG variant costs Rs 7.74 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
