Hyderabad: Six people died in a major fire accident that broke out in a three-storeyed building at Gulzar Houz near Charminar on Sunday morning.
The Osmania General Hospital (OGH) Resident Medical Officer (RMO), Vijay Kumar Yadav, told Deccan Chronicle that six people have died in the fire accident which occurred early in the morning at Gulzar Houz. He further said that one person was admitted at the OGH, while others were taken to nearby private hospitals.
The fire department officials said that nearly 15 people were severely injured, while 10 people suffered minor injuries and added that efforts were underway to douse the fire.
Hydraa’s DRF teams stated that the ground floor of the building has commercial shops, while the upper three floors were used for residential purpose spaces. They further said that several people were trapped in smoke in the upper floors of the building. Two DRF teams, along with four fire tenders were at the spot.
Meanwhile, the Police, DRF and GHMC officials were supervising the rescue operation at the building and are trying to assess the situation. GHMC Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi, South Zone DCP Sneha Mehra and other officials are monitoring the situation.
