Vijayawada: In a major reshuffle within the Andhra Pradesh Prisons Department, Vijayawada district jail superintendent Hamsa Paul was transferred to the Central Prison in Rajamahendravaram and attached to the Training Centre in Nellore.Hamsa Paul, currently serving as the superintendent of the Vijayawada Jail, earlier worked as the jailor at Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad when Jagan Mohan Reddy was lodged there in connection with the disproportionate assets case. Over the years, Paul was perceived to be loyal to the YSRCP chief. His continued presence at the Vijayawada jail, where several accused in financial and corruption cases linked to the previous regime are currently on remand, became a matter of interest. The transfer is being seen as a strategic administrative move under the new govt. Along with Paul’s transfer, three deputy superintendents were promoted and given new postings as additional superintendents. Mohammad Irfan was posted to Vijayawada Jail, Kantharaj to Guntur, and Venkata Reddy to Chittoor.
