Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha said that museums hold a unique position in preserving culture and historical heritage. He added that museums act as knowledge repositories that are not just rooms of memories but also introduce us to different cultures across generations.On International Museum Day, Lakshmisha, along with the officials of various departments and representatives from adventurous and tours and travels, visited Kondapalli museum. The collectors and the officials started from Toy Makers Street and reached Kondapalli Killa, depicting their commitment to the protection of the rich heritage of Kondapalli Fort.Speaking on the occasion, Lakshmisha said that the theme for this year’s International Museum Day was ‘The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities,’ which underscores the need for developing museums in line with modern society while preserving heritage.Moreover, the NTR district collector called upon the youth, particularly students, to visit museums in order to learn and see the rich history and glory. He advised them to make use of the Bapu and Kondapalli museums and visit them, emphasising that they provide insights into different dynasties, artefacts, rare inscriptions, as well as famous Kondapalli toys.
