Telangana’s Director of Public Health and Family Welfare B. Ravinder Naik has categorically denied rumours about an alleged shortage of oxygen in ambulances deployed during the fire incident at Gulzar Houz on Sunday.
In an official statement issued on Monday, Dr. Naik clarified that a total of eight ambulances were dispatched to the site, with the first patient being transported to Osmania General Hospital at 6.25 a.m. in ambulance number TS08UL5682. A total of 15 patients were evacuated and shifted to hospitals including Osmania, Care, Apollo, and Yashoda, all in ‘108’ ambulances equipped with oxygen support.
Dr. Naik noted that the Health department was alerted immediately after the incident, and a team of doctors was rushed to the scene. A specialist team was also kept on standby at Osmania General Hospital to ensure timely treatment for the injured. He confirmed that all victims succumbed to injuries but the department made efforts to expedite post-mortem procedures to reduce additional trauma for the victims’ families.
