Monica’s Bogus Residence Proof Sparks Online Buzz

Kurnool:An old case involving a fake residential certificate issued to actress Monica Bedi—known for her association with underworld don Abu Salem—has resurfaced on social and news media platforms, drawing renewed public attention.

The case, dating back to April 2001, links the controversial document to Pellakuru Krishnamohan Reddy, who was serving as Tahsildar in Kurnool at the time and later became Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Krishnamohan Reddy allegedly issued a residence certificate in the name of Sana Malik Kamal—an alias used by Monica Bedi—stating that she resided at Babu Gounda Street in Kurnool. Using this certificate, Bedi was able to secure an Indian passport under the fake identity.

The case is tied to a larger national controversy from over two decades ago when Monica, along with Abu Salem—an accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts—fled to Portugal in 2002. Both were arrested there and deported to India, sparking widespread media attention. It was later revealed that the fraudulent passport application originated in Kurnool, leading to an FIR at One Town Police Station and subsequent involvement of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Sources said Krishnamohan Reddy was interrogated by the CBI, though he later turned approver in the case. He reportedly claimed that the residence certificate was issued based on a field report submitted by then Revenue Inspector Mohammad Younis of Nandikotkur.

The issue has gone viral once again following Krishnamohan Reddy’s recent arrest in connection with the ongoing liquor scam case, reigniting discussions about his alleged past misconduct.

Interestingly, the then Superintendents of Police of Kurnool, PSR Anjaneyulu and N. Sanjay, who served during 2001–02 in Kurnool, have also faced allegations and are accused in various other cases.
