Sonakshi Sinha Targeted by Trolls

Sonakshi Sinha has once again made headlines—not for her work, but because she married a Muslim man. Frankly, this has become a disgusting pattern among trolls.

After the recent news of Jyoti Malhotra, a travel blogger from Haryana who was arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan, trolls rushed to the internet to grab the opportunity to attack Sonakshi for her association with a Muslim partner.

Jyoti is a 33-year-old travel vlogger who runs a YouTube channel called Travel With Jo.

Around two months ago, she shared multiple videos and reels from Pakistan, showcasing her visits to Lahore’s Anarkali Bazaar, Katas Raj Temple, and various bus journeys across the country. Her content also included comparisons between Indian and Pakistani culture, and explorations of Pakistani cuisine.

In 2023, Jyoti Malhotra visited Pakistan for the first time using a visa arranged through commission agents. During this trip, she came into contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim (alias Danish), an official at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.

She later developed close ties with Rahim, who allegedly introduced her to Pakistani intelligence operatives.

Ms. Malhotra is accused of maintaining contact with these handlers after returning to India and sharing sensitive information regarding Indian Army movements and locations, as part of an espionage network across Haryana and Punjab.

In 2024, she also travelled to Kashmir and uploaded videos from Dal Lake and the Srinagar–Banihal railway route.

Investigators further claim she developed an intimate relationship with one of the Pakistani operatives.

Trolls have now begun saying that Sonakshi would be “perfect” to play Jyoti’s character in a film—an obviously offensive and baseless comparison.

It is sickening to watch people constantly target Sonakshi simply because she married a Muslim man.

Trolls with extremist religious views seize every opportunity to label her a “traitor” or “anti-national.”

In a secular nation like ours, where Hindu-Muslim unity was once considered a symbol of brotherhood, it is deeply disturbing that some people now use religion to shame others for being in a relationship, friendship, or even simply associating with someone from the Muslim community.
