The Communist Party of India has sought clarity from the Congress-led State government on the implementation of welfare schemes.
The Congress government has launched several schemes since it took over the reins benefitting sections of population. There is however no clarity on the implementation or partial implementation of the old schemes which is creating confusion among beneficiaries. Moreover, there is no clarity about the source of funds for implementation of the spree of schemes, CPI State secretary K. Sambasiva Rao said.
“Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has explained the financial crisis the State has been facing but has not clarified about the sources of funds for the new schemes. This will send wrong signals among the people,” he said adding it was the responsibility of the government to give clarity about the factual situation and allay apprehensions.
He lamented that the previous BRS government had pushed the State into a debt trap while the Central government too cold-shouldered the State government’s request for financial assistance to bring the finances out of crisis. “The government should explore ways to enhance revenue generation to fulfil the promises it made to the people,” he said.
CPI central secretariat member K. Narayana who spoke about the developments at the national level alleged that the United States President Donald Trump was behaving like a ‘de facto Prime Minister of the country’ and was trying to dictate terms to the Central government about the policies that should be followed. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is however maintaining a stoic silence on the developments,” he lamented.
While all the political parties stood with the government in its efforts to root out terrorism through steps like Operation Sindoor, Mr. Narendra Modi was however trying to gain political mileage in the name of checking terror activities. “Entire country stood with Mr. Modi in the fight against terrorism, but the Prime Minister followed the dictates of the US president and betrayed the hopes of the people,” he said.
The two CPI leaders demanded that the Central government release a white paper on Operation Kagar alleging that the government was not taking initiative to hold discussions with Maoists. “The government should clarify who are more dangerous — terrorists or Maoists?” Mr. Narayana said.
