Ex-MP Nandigam held for assault on TDP worker

Vijayawada: YSRCP former MPNandigam Suresh was arrested by the police in connection with an alleged assault on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) worker, Isakapalli Raju, at Uddandarayunipalem village, near here. The incident occurred late Saturday night.According to the SHO of Thullur police station, Raju was seriously injured in the alleged attack and is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Mangalagiri. The ex-MP, along with his elder brother Prabhudas and a few relatives, is accused of physically assaulting Raju following a heated altercation that stemmed from a road incident.The sequence of events reportedly began around 9 pm on Saturday when a speeding car nearly hit Raju. Angered, he confronted the driver, which allegedly escalated the situation. Within minutes, Nandigam Suresh, accompanied by his brother and others, arrived at the scene and allegedly assaulted Raju. The group is then accused of forcibly taking him to the MP’s house, where the assault reportedly continued.Raju’s wife, Chaitanya, told the media, “First, a car almost hit Raju. When he questioned the driver, Suresh and his relatives arrived and beat him up. Later, they dragged him and assaulted him again. My husband is in severe pain. His whole body has gone weak from the injuries,” she said.Family members of the victim have filed a formal complaint with the police. Before the victim’s family approached the police, Suresh’s wife lodged a complaint at around 11 pm the same night.Police have registered both cases, arrested Suresh, and shifted him to the Thullur police station for further investigation. Medical reports from AIIMS doctors confirm that Raju’s condition is currently stable, but he continues to receive treatment for multiple injuries.
