Hyderabad: The State government has constituted a six-member committee to conduct a comprehensive probe into the major fire accident that took place at Gulzar Houz near Charminar in old city on Sunday, according to Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar here on Tuesday.

Prabhakar, who is also the Hyderabad in-charge Minister, said the committee would conduct a detailed probe into the incident and submit a comprehensive report to the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy explaining the main cause for the incident and the steps taken by various departments after the fire.

The committee would give suggestions to the people at the field level to prevent fire accidents in future. The local conditions should be assessed and suggestions should be made with appropriate proposals to prevent fire incidents. After getting the report, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and senior officials will review and take necessary action.

The committee members include Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner RV Karnan, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durashetti, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand, Fire Services Director-General Y Nagi Reddy, Hydra Commissioner AV Ranganath and Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) Musharraf Faruqui.
