Producers Sue Sr Actor for Rs 25 Crore

Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal appears more in social media than in films these days. That’s because of his over-the-top expressions from his iconic characters of the past. His unintentionally funny look in ‘Hera Pheri’ gave way to meme factory on social media. However, he is in the news for the wrong reasons.

If the reports are to be believed Rawal is being sued by the makers of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ for what they termed as “unprofessional behavior”. The actor was sent a legal notice from the production house Cape of Good Films claiming damages worth Rs 25 crore.

The makers claimed that the amount they invested in him is now lost due to Rawal’s unprofessional behaviour.

With an intent to reinvent the magic of ‘Hera Pheri’ on the big screen after 20 years, the makers of Cape of Good Films procured the rights from various stakeholders. It is learnt that they have repaid all the debts on the film.

Producers claimed that Paresh’s unprofessional behaviour has cost a bomb to the film. Producers have decided not to be submissive to the demands of actors and decided to go the Hollywood way. Film contracts have become a boon for film producers to avoid such situations when actors back out from a project at the last minute.

It may be recalled that Rawal left everyone shocked, especially his co-stars Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty earlier this month when announced that he was walking out from ‘Hera Pheri 3’. He further confirmed that he had no creative differences with veteran director Priyadarshan.

“I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director,” the tweet reads.

Makers further felt that Rawal hasn’t given a logical reason for stepping out of the project. This made everyone including the cast fuming and disappointed. While the actor’s decision remains a mystery, the producers of Hera Pheri 3 feel the incident is extremely unprofessional. Such behaviour is unacceptable even after shooting the announcement video featuring all three principal characters in the film, opine the film unit.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Priyadarshan said that he was shocked and hurt following Rawal’s exit from the project. Recalling his association with the senior actor, Priyadarshan said Paresh was like a family to him and clueless why the latter had done it. Citing no proper explanation about Paresh’s exit, Priyadarshan said he still does not understand the conspiracy behind it.
