Suzuki Motorcycle India has laid the foundation stone for its new manufacturing unit. It will be the 2-wheeler maker’s second plant in India. Suzuki Motorcycle’s new manufacturing facility is located at IMT Kharkhoda in Haryana. It is spread across 100 acres of land, out of which 25 acres will be dedicated to manufacturing. Suzuki Motorcycle is investing close to Rs 1,200 crore to set up the new facility, which will have an annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh units in the first phase. It is expected to become operational in 2027 and will provide employment to around 2,000 people. Kenichi Umeda, MD of Suzuki Motorcycle India, said, “The basic concept of this plant is lean manufacturing”, which aims to maximize productivity and minimize waste. “It will also feature modern automation and energy-efficient systems, helping us move towards Suzuki’s global vision for carbon neutrality and sustainability,” he added.
