TDP gears up for grand Mahanadu, stage set for leadership shift

Vijayawada: TDP state president Palla Srinivas Rao has constituted 19 committees with senior functionaries and legislators to oversee the arrangements for Mahanadu, the annual conclave of TDP, scheduled to be held at Kadapa from May 27 to 29.It is the tradition of TDP to conduct Mahanadu to mark the birthday of party founder NT Ramarao. However, Mahanadu was not held last year due to elections.As this is the first Mahanadu after coming to power, elaborate arrangements are being made to make it a grand celebration. The TDP plans to announce new committees for the party from state level to booth level. The organisational elections are underway at district level, and the state committees will be announced at Mahanadu.According to sources, party national general secretary Nara Lokeshis likely to get an elevation in the party. Lokesh has been advocating for limiting the number of terms for a person in one role, including himself. As he has continued in the present position for three terms consecutively, he is likely to be elevated to the next level. Sources said that Lokesh is likely to be made the working president, or he may even step into the shoes of party national president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.There has been a discussion going on within the party to completely hand over the party affairs to Lokesh to ease the work burden on Naidu.While Palla Srinivas Rao and Bakkani Narasimhulu were in the invitation committee, Nara Lokesh, Palla Srinivas Rao, K Atchannaidu, Payyavula Keshav, Anagani Satya Prasad, Nimmala Ramanaidu, BC Janardhan Reddy, Beeda Ravichandra, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Daggumalla Prasadrao, and Kilary Rajesh were part of the coordination committee.The committee for resolutions is headed by politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu with 21 members. Separate committees have been constituted for accommodation, organising, food, media, finance, cultural programs, exhibition, registration, venue supervision, decoration, transport, parking, medical camp and blood donation, volunteers, public gathering, beautification, and cleanliness, with more than 200 party functionaries involved.
