BHPian RohanDheman recently shared this with other enthusiasts: With Aman’s permission, posting this here since we ride the same bikes, just different variants. Took my beloved S1000RR for its second track day. I have had the bike for over 3 years now and this was the second time she was on track (last being in 2023 February) and here is what I have realized:More than the bike, my own fitness is the most important factor. The core and thighs need to be super strong to be able to move around. In my view, I am at least 10-12kg over weight and need to work on it. The track is an added motivation now. It’s overwhelming so see other faster riders and while your mind wants to follow them and their lines, it can be distracting and you will likely run off the track. So best to ride at your pace and try to not get too overwhelmed. Difficult maybe but needs to be done.First session has to be for learning and getting used to the track. The elevation changes, the banks need time to get used to.It’s so so important to invest in to this as a skill. You need to take proper coaching and have someone teach you. While the YouTube videos are amazing, eyes directly on you at track is super important and this is what I will invest in now. Level 1&2 trainings should happen in October/November and I will sign up for it. I am sure this will have a positive impact on my riding skills on road as well. It’s expensive. Tires, brakes, track day fee, bike transport adds up and good to mentally prepare yourself for it.I deliberately took pics to see what I was doing wrong and will use this as a reference point to learn and grow. I know my head position is off and I was struggling to get my upper body moving adequately. One big positive was that I was finally able to do a 50 degree lean. It was my one wish ever since I started riding and finally it was done. But so so much more to do!Couple of pics now!
