The situation came to light when a woman named Jayashree filed a complaint on January 21, alleging that her land had been seized. The police, without conducting a thorough investigation, registered an FIR against a man named Bathini Chandrasekhar who had passed away nine years ago.
Upon discovering the registration of the case, Chandrasekhar’s family approached the police station to question the rationale behind naming a deceased person in the FIR. The officer on duty responded with threats, warning the family that further questioning could lead to cases being filed against them as well.
The family demanded that action be taken against the officer responsible for this oversight and accused him of participating in land scams. They called for an immediate investigation and accountability for the unwarranted case filed against their deceased relative.
The matter reached the higher authorities, resulting in the suspension of Inspector J. Venkata Ratnam of AJ Mills Police Station.
