My BMW X3 20d: 68,000km maintenance and ownership update

It has taken over a year to get from 60,000 to 68,000 km. We had no long journeys with the BMW in the past year

Just realised I have not posted any updates in almost a year. And yes, it is yet another milestone crossed with the X3 – 100 months, and 68,000 kms

My BMW X3 20d: 68,000km maintenance and ownership update

It has taken over a year to get from 60,000 to 68,000 km – a reflection of the fact that with two other cars at home (the Ioniq 5 and the Tiguan Allspace), usage of the BMW on weekends or even for outings has reduced.

We had no long journeys with the BMW in the past year – just the routine trips to Alibag and Lonavala.

Maintenance after 68,000km

The car is proving quite expensive to maintain – I had an AC evaporator coil failure in November (which along with other ancillary stuff cost ₹ 90000+ to repair) and the routine service cost ₹40000 too. I also need to get the door handles replaced since they are starting to develop the infamous stickiness – but the part was not in stock, and I have not bothered to follow up (neither has BMW Infinity for that matter).

Ownership Experience

Apart from that, the car continues to be a pleasure to drive – and looks great for a 8+ year old car. In another couple of months, it will beat the record our Vento set for the car we have retained for the longest time (in a primary usage role), even if on miles covered with us, it still has some distance to go.

Am waiting for the Amane entrance of Samruddhi Mahamarg to get inaugurated – will be a pleasure to do a quick weekend run to Nagpur – but let’s see when that happens.
