Warangal:In line with the rapid growth of Telangana, the Central government must extend its “full support” for development of the railway infrastructure in the state.
The plea was made on Thursday by revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy at the inauguration of the redeveloped Warangal railway station. The works had been taken up under the Amrit Bharat Scheme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the new-look station in online mode from elsewhere. Union minister Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, MPs Etala Rajendar, D.K. Aruna and Kadiyam Kavya, MLC Basawaraju Saraiah, legislative council deputy chairman Banda Prakash and MLAs Naini Rajendar Reddy, Revuri Prakash Rao and K.R. Nagaraju also attended the event in Warangal.
Srinivas Reddy thanked the Prime Minister for selecting three railway stations in Telangana under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, along with 103 other railway stations. All these were inaugurated simultaneously at the hands of Modi.
The revenue minister said, “Hyderabad city is developing into one of the major cities of the world. The Telangana government is striving hard to develop Warangal city also in the same manner as Hyderabad.”
He urged the central government to declare the Kazipet railway station, located between the SCR and NCR into a new railway division and modernise it.
Srinivas Reddy pleaded for release of `24,500 crore along and necessary permissions for construction works of the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro through a distance of 76km and sanction a railway line parallel to the proposed Regional Ring Road.
He requested the Centre to sanction the railway lines between Vikarabad-Krishna, Kalwakurthy-Macherla and reconsider the proposals of railway lines between Dornakal-Miryalguda (Papatapalli-Johnpahad) and Dornakal-Gadwal.
Varma said Modi was taking India to new heights. With strong determination to develop the railway sector, the Central government developed three railway stations in Telangana with ultra-modern facilities under the ABSS.
“The railway budget allocated this year is much higher compared to the budget provisions of 2014,” he said.
