The Mahindra XEV 9e draws immense attention, attracting numerous families (not only enthusiasts) who eagerly request to see them.

Ownership Experience:

1. Headlights are indeed remarkable. Never thought those 3 tiny trios to be this effective. The booster lamps activate at 79 kmph and remain operational until the speed decreases below 74kmph.

2. ⁠Ambient lighting significantly enhances the overall ambiance during nocturnal drives.

3. Previously, I considered the third screen to be inconsequential until my recent ~3,900 km round trip. Everyone now loves it, albeit with a desire for additional applications, such as Netflix.

4. ⁠AC is a chiller, plus 3 options for Auto is a ++. Kept AC at 25 degrees (both zones), 1 step of Auto and in Econ mode, cooling was adequate even in harsh sunlight.

5. ⁠Once you become familiar with the car’s controls, they become intuitive and user-friendly. The touchscreen and steering-mounted controls no longer appear complex or unfamiliar.

6. ⁠In my opinion, the haptic controls in the centre console appear visually appealing but have an excessive learning curve.

7. ⁠Seats are comfortable; for me, it is just too wide, which isn’t really a con, right?

8. ⁠Hornpad extending to corner is brilliant.

9. ⁠Everyone is in awe of the tighter turning radius (as compared to the car’s length).

10. ⁠Cars draw immense attention, attracting numerous families (not only enthusiasts) who eagerly request to see them. While I personally do not appreciate this attention and hope it diminishes once cars become more commonplace on the roads.

11. ⁠Accessories are uncommon, even M&M’s do not offer many accessories. Incidentally, those seeking rear sunblinds can purchase (purchase link for rear sunblind). The quality is merely average, but it effectively functions.

12. ⁠The boot gallops a lot,The boot gallops frequently, and beyond the boot, I am greatly impressed by the frunk. As a newcomer to the frunk, I once inadvertently forgot to retrieve luggage from it . It is important to note that items stored in the frunk tend to become quite warm.

13. ⁠The ride quality is good, and it appears that the suspensions are being adjusted based on the road conditions. Following the initial service, the low-speed ride quality was enhanced after the software update. In my opinion, the ride quality of this vehicle is superior to that of the Tata Hexa. While the Tata Hexa performes well, the ride quality of XEV 9E is noticeably better.

14. ⁠A low-speed nudge has turned off ADAS with malfunction lights. Though the car is drivable sans any ADAS aid, still, a radar being damaged felt like an extreme. The car recognised the rear end and saved the 3-minute footage from all 4 angles in the emergency folder. We can either download via the Me4U mobile app or attach a USB pen drive in the glovebox slot to extract the video. Nifty .

15. ⁠The range on highways are good. Personally, with our heavy right foot, we have achieved a range between 425 and 520 km.

16. ⁠The car was charging when there was a power loss. This might have thrown a software glitch, and the car showed a 2000 km range! A glimpse of the future?

17. ⁠Upon opening the bonnet and the vehicle in “ready to drive” mode, the car enters a limp mode. This safety feature automatically disengages once the bonnet is closed.

18. ⁠Wished the lane change indicator could be adjusted for 5 blinks instead of 3.

19. ⁠Calibration for rain-sensing wipers and auto headlamps is bang on. My American is really bad in this aspect.

20. First impression of M&M Service Centre and RSA is positive. Similar to German, during a call to RSA, they ask us about our health and if we need any medical assistance (humans over machines).

21. ⁠Cooled Armrest is of little to no use.

22. 65W Type-C works well just like wireless chargers. ⁠

23. ⁠If we consider thoughtful gestures, the car exuded a more German demeanour than an Indian one.

24. ⁠Tyre noise is heard and not really as silent as described by M&M (our XEV is running on GoodYear tyres).

25. ⁠The ICE is impressive. While I was not particularly impressed during the TD, it took me a week to fully appreciate its capabilities. The subwoofer delivers precise and powerful bass.

26. The autonomous parking feature can be quite intimidating, so I intervened in the process by braking.

27. ⁠Forward and backward movement through the keyfob works well and is a show-off feature.

28. The rear seat armrest design is not optimal. Its height is slightly above my preferred level.

29. ⁠Doorpads can accommodate 1-litre bottles, and the umbrella section of the doorpad can hold approximately 500-600 ml bottles. The centre console can, at most, accommodate 500 ml bottles.

30. ⁠If only four pax (including driver) are in the car, it’s best to remove the centre rear headrest and store it either in the boot or frunk. It helps with rear visibility through IRVM.

31. Ventilated seats are effective and operate silently.

32. ⁠In my opinion, the control knob located in the centre console is exceptionally ingenious.

33. ⁠Although the brake pedal is predictable, at legal highway speeds, when the car utilises mechanical brakes, the tyres screech even during normal braking.

34. Please utilise ADAS as a drive assistance system rather than a driver replacement. On highways, the system failed to identify heavy vehicles without taillights during nighttime. As mentioned in the owner’s manual, ADAS does take into account taillights.

35. ⁠Automated Lane Change works fine for the most part, except for the aggressive turns.

36. ⁠The GC is adequate, and the battery appears to be securely installed. As of now, I have not experienced any scrapes, despite the car having been driven extensively in India and having traversed various roads.

37. The hotspot feature is beneficial. At one point, the mall’s basement lacked a network connection for my mobile device. Consequently, I utilised XEV’s hotspot to initiate the charging process. As per the sales advisor, the car’s internet data is limited to 20 GB per month.
