Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have decided to strengthen inter-state cooperation in the civil supplies sector. The agreement was entered into between Ministers of Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy (Telangana) and Nadendla Manohar (Andhra Pradesh) marks a milestone in collaborative governance between the States.
The agreement envisaged coverage of a wide range of initiatives, including structured transfer of civil supplies assets, joint export operations using Andhra Pradesh’s port infrastructure and a robust knowledge-sharing mechanism across procurement, distribution and disaster management. Telangana would gain critical infrastructure such as corporation flats and storage facilities, while Andhra would facilitate rice exports through Kakinada Port, opening up international markets including the Philippines.
Mr. Uttam said the partnership went beyond paperwork. With Telangana’s strength in technology and logistical edge over the neighbouring State, the agreement envisaged building a supply chain model that would benefit farmers and consumers of both States. The collaboration between the two States had helped curb illegal rice movement and improve export preparedness, he said.
Mr. Manohar said the joint initiative would be monitored by a coordination committee, with the first outcomes expected in the next procurement season. It is a step that would not only promise better governance but revive the spirit of unity showing how the two States can build a shared future together.
