A 20-year-old woman was arrested by the Mehdipatnam police on Saturday in connection with a recent gold ornaments theft at the Mehdipatnam bus stand earlier this week.
The accused, identified as Hathagale Sanjana, a daily wage labourer residing in Afzal Sagar, was arrested while attempting to sell the stolen gold at Vijaynagar Colony. 45 grams of stolen ornaments were seized from her.
The case was reported on May 20, when the complainant Gadili Hyma, 25, was travelling with her family from Vikarabad to Hyderabad. Hyma noticed her handbag had been tampered while disembarking at Mehdipatnam bus stand. She found that several gold items were missing, including a 15-gram chain, two lockets of 9 grams and 2 grams each, a pair of 5 grams earrings and a 24-gram gold biscuit, amounting to a total loss of 55 grams of gold.
A search operation was launched and the accused was traced to Vijaynagar Colony. She has been remanded to judicial custody.
