Telangana’s focus on future-ready power infra: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the state govt is proactively working to meet future energy demands, with a strong focus on renewable energy and pumped storage projects to improve grid flexibility and reliability. Speaking after participating in the Central Power Ministers’ Conference held recently in Bengaluru, Bhatti said, “We are committed to strengthening Telangana’s power infrastructure with long-term planning and collaborative efforts that align with national energy goals.” The conference brought together ministers and senior officials from across India to deliberate on key aspects of the power sector, including infrastructure upgrades, operational efficiency, and the transition to clean energy.Bhatti highlighted Telangana’s initiatives to enhance its intra-state transmission network, which is vital for managing growing energy demand and integrating diverse power sources. “We have detailed plans to expand transmission lines and transformation capacity, with projections extending up to 2034–35,” he said.He also emphasised the importance of improving the performance and financial health of distribution utilities. “Reducing technical and commercial losses is essential to ensure the sector’s financial sustainability and attract continued investment,” the deputy CM noted. In addition, Bhatti outlined Telangana’s push towards electric mobility. He said the state is streamlining the connection process for EV charging stations and setting clear targets for developing related infrastructure. “We are also strengthening grid security, implementing cybersecurity measures, and enhancing emergency preparedness to future-proof our power systems,” he added.Vikramarka stressed that collaboration between states and the Central govt is critical in achieving the country’s broader energy goals.
