Vijayawada: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Andhra Pradesh, a dedicated Yoga Street has been established in Vijayawada, marking a major step towards promoting physical and mental well-being under the state’s ‘Yoga Andhra Month’ celebrations.The initiative is set to make Vijayawada a model for community yoga engagement across the state.Addressing the media, NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha, called for collective efforts to make NTR district No. 1 in Yoga Andhra, as part of the state-wide campaign running from May 21 to June 21. He announced that the district aims to teach yoga to about 10 to 15 lakh people during this period.“To achieve this, we will deploy around 2,500 trained yoga instructors,” said Dr Lakshmisha. “Seven trainers will be available at every village and ward secretariat, each handling daily sessions with up to 50 participants, following a 45-minute common yoga protocol based on specific themes.”Daily yoga programmes will be held at the village, mandal, division, municipal, and district levels, including along BRTS Road.
