Vijayawada: In the APPSC Group-1 exam irregularities case, the Vijayawada court granted two-day police custody of key accused senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu and P Madhusudhan, to Suryaraopet police for questioning on Sunday and Monday.The court directed that the interrogation must happen in the presence of lawyers, with no third-degree methods, and allowed time for the accused to consult their counsels. After the custody, a medical examination must be conducted, and the accused should be produced before a magistrate. Police prepared a detailed questionnaire to extract crucial information related to answer sheet evaluation tampering.The police custody began at 8 am after a mandatory medical checkup on Sunday and continued till late evening on the first day. Following the end of the custody period, the police are also required to present the accused before a magistrate. The court’s order came a day after it reserved judgment on the custody petition filed by the Suryaraopet police on Friday. The police sought a week-long custody of the accused to extract crucial information regarding the manipulation of evaluation protocols in the prestigious Group-1 recruitment process.According to sources, the police prepared a detailed questionnaire to confront the accused with specific evidence related to the alleged tampering and favouritism in the assessment of answer sheets. Anjaneyulu and Madhusudhan, listed as A1 and A2 in the case, are suspected to have played central roles in facilitating irregularities that potentially undermined the integrity of the recruitment process. Investigators believe that their custodial interrogation could lead to the identification of others involved and further expose the network behind the scandal.
