‘Ignore Kavitha’s outburst’ is apparently the message that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo and former chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao gave emerged party working president K. T. Rama Rao during the two-hour meeting at his farmhouse in Erravelli on Sunday (May 25).
As BRS MLC K Kavitha sounded a kind of rebellion bugle, her brother KTR met their father KCR to discuss the outcome of the three days of turmoil within the party after the letter was leaked. KCR is reported to have asked KTR to focus on the party affairs and also ask other leaders not to respond unnecessarily.
Downplaying the stir caused by Ms. Kavitha’s confidential letter was better for the party as it would die down soon was the message to be sent out to the partymen. Ms. Kavitha’s reported plans to float a new political outfit also came up for discussion but KCR is said to have ruled out any such development.
KCR reportedly agreed that media speculation and public’s interest would be quite high in the episode and in these circumstances maintaining balance in the comments and responses by various leaders was of utmost importance. Negative comments against Ms. Kavitha or her role will not only lead to further damage and diluting the discourse was in the interests of the party.
The discussion also focused on charting the party’s course for Telangana State Formation Day, celebrated on June 2 and sending a strong signal through the celebrations that party was the supreme and not individuals. Leadership issue will be decided by KCR and no one else.
KTR is said to have shared details of his US visit to participate in the silver jubilee celebrations in Dallas. KCR directed him on further meetings to be held with expatriates in various countries.
