Indian Classical Music Stirs Hearts, Supports Cause At Ravindra Bharathi

Hyderabad: Indian classical music proved once again that it can move hearts while serving a cause. At the fifth season of the Classical Concert Series here, music was more than performance, it was purpose. Organised by Sangitanjaly Foundation in aid of the Autism Ashram, the concert brought together sarod maestro Pt Debojyoti Bose and tabla virtuoso Ustad Akram Khan for a duet that was both meditative and masterful.

The audience at Ravindra Bharathi was drawn into a sonic journey as Pt Bose opened with Raag Jinjhoti, moving into a soulful Bageshree in Rupak taal, and ending with a seamless blend of Jog, Pahadi, and Kirwani. Ustad Akram Khan’s tabla interludes added dimension, with both artists responding to each other’s improvisations with ease and intimacy.

“The concert is a way of keeping our musical heritage alive while also making it meaningful for communities,” said Abhijeeth Bhattacharjee, chairman of Sangitanjaly Foundation. Curated alongside Grammy jury member Pt Prodyut Mukherjee, the concert aimed to bridge tradition and contemporary social responsibility.

The interplay of melody and rhythm, classic in form but deeply human in feeling, left listeners with more than just applause: it left them reflecting on the emotional and healing power of music.
