Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday (24 May) called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and made a detailed pitch for several key infrastructure and industrial projects.
The projects included the Rs 24,269 crore Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II and official recognition of the Hyderabad-Bangalore defence manufacturing corridor, reported PTI.
According to a statement from the Telangana government, the Chief Minister made a comprehensive presentation on four major sectors — metro expansion, regional connectivity, semiconductor ecosystem development and defence manufacturing during a meeting held at Bharat Mandapam.
Reddy sought cabinet approval for the 76.4 km Phase-II metro project, which includes five corridors.
Of the total project cost, the Centre is expected to contribute 18 per cent (Rs 4,230 crore), the state 30 per cent (Rs 7,313 crore), and the remainder (Rs 11,693 crore) through debt financing.
He pointed out that other metro projects such as Chennai Metro Phase-II and Bangalore Metro Phase-III have already secured central approvals, and urged parity for Hyderabad.
Reddy also pressed for simultaneous execution of both northern and southern parts of the proposed Regional Ring Road around Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister further proposed a Regional Ring Railway and a greenfield expressway linking Bandar port to Hyderabad’s dry port, aimed at supporting the pharmaceutical sector.
He highlighted Telangana’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and urged central support under the India Semiconductor Mission.
Reddy also sought notification of the Hyderabad-Bangalore defence corridor, citing Hyderabad’s mature ecosystem and the presence of major global and domestic defence firms.
