The biggest betrayal and deceit of the century is the Congress’s ‘Abhaya Hastham’ manifesto in Telangana as the party has failed to keep a majority of the promises made through it and those implemented are partial, belying the hopes of the people who believed in it, working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao said.
Speaking at a party event organised here on Monday to formally admit several constituency level leaders of the Congress from Gadwal, including B. Hanumanthu Naidu and B. Shyamala, he said the BRS government had laid a strong foundation to Telangana from 2014 to 2023 and the successor Congress government was pushing the State backwards with its directionless policies.

“Every section believed in the Congress manifesto trumpeted by AICC leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjuna Kharge and others along with those in the State. But after 18 months of Congress rule, people have realised that a fraud is being played on them,” he said.
He cited the example of farm loan waiver, which was put at over ₹40,000 crore in the first meeting of the Cabinet and ultimately only ₹20,617 crore was extended, denying the benefit to a large number of farmers. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy himself had changed the waiver amount several times since he took over in December 2023.
Comparing the Chief Minister to the main character in ‘Aparichithudu’ movie, the BRS leader pointed out that on one hand Mr. Revanth Reddy would say that Telangana had become bankrupt and its condition was like that of an AIDS patient and on the other his government would erect hoardings all over the city stating that ‘Telangana in Rising’ and would organise Miss World pageant.
Party leader R.S. Praveen Kumar said the last 18-month rule in the State had proved beyond any doubt that Congress was an illusion and BRS was a reality. Party leders S. Niranjan Reddy, V. Srinivas Goud, V. Prashanth Reddy, B. Shyamala spoke and others, including R. Chandrasekhar Reddy, P. Karthik Reddy, Tula Uma and Anjaneya Goud participated.
