Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has dismissed a petition seeking to halt the construction of a toll plaza on NH 44 in Kamareddy district. Several villagers from Rameshwerpally village of Bhiknoor Mandal had filed the petition, alleging that National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had encroached upon their land adjacent to the NH for highway development and toll plaza construction.“Under this guise, they have encroached into our land which were not acquired for the development work taken up by them,” they informed the HC.This was contested by the NHAI’s counsel, who informed the court that all their work was confined to land acquired after notification in Oct 2011. “The agency has not deviated even the slightest from same notification while carrying out the work,” he said. After hearing both parties, the high court concluded that NHAI had adhered to construction within the acquired land only and dismissed the petition.
