Volkswagen is gearing up to launch a new 7-seater premium SUV in India during the Diwali season of 2025 (i.e. by month of October). Called the Volkswagen Tayron, this full-sized SUV will be introduced as a successor to the now-discontinued VW Tiguan AllSpace. It will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster. The new 7-seater Volkswagen SUV will be brought here in the CKD (completely built unit) form, and then assembled at the company’s Aurangabad facility.

Under the hood!
Starting with the powertrain, the Volkswagen Tayron is likely to be offered with a 2.0L turbo diesel engine, pushing out a maximum power of 150PS and 360Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be performed via a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. This powertrain setup, in the Tiguan R-Line, accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 7.1 seconds and offers a top speed of 229kmph. However, these figures are expected to be slightly lower for the Tayron due its higher kerb weight. Globally, this full-sized SUV is also available with a 150PS, 1.5L turbo petrol and a 204PS/265PS, 2.0L turbo petrol engine options.
