The Volkswagen Golf GTI hot-hatch has finally made its way to India. The first batch of the 150 units have already been sold out, and bookings for the second batch will open in late 2025. Priced at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom), the Golf GTI has become the most expensive VW offering. It’s imported as a CBU unit. The performance hatchback is being offered in four colour options – Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black, Oryx White and Kings Red.

The new VW hot-hatch sources power from a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This motor returns a claimed power of 265bhp and 370Nm of torque. Further enhancing its performance is an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock. The Golf GTI does 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds, and offers a maximum speed of 250kmph. It comes with the FWD (front-wheel drive) system.

Being an expensive offering, the new VW performance hatchback comes packed with several advanced features including the Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). This suite offers features such as lane change assist, auto emergency braking and rear traffic alert. The safety kit of the Golf GTI also consists of 7 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, a rear view camera, Isofix anchors and more.
The sports seats with contrasting red ‘GTI’ embossing on the fixed front headrests and signature tartan inserts in the centre. It also gets leather-wrapped steering wheel with a red GTI fastener. Volkswagen Golf GTI – Design
The Golf GTI features a compact built and a sporty design language. Upfront, it features the Matrix LED headlamps connected via a thin DRL strip, grille with GTI badge, X-shaped LED fog lamps, sporty bumper and a red strip running on the nose. Some of its other design highlights include 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, smoked LED taillamps, a pronounced roof spoiler and dual exhaust tips.
