BJP Plans 3-Day Training Camp For Party MLAs

Bhopal: The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh is planning to hold a three-day training camp for the party MLAs, including the ministers in the Mohan Yadav government, at Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district in Madhya Pradesh on June 14.

The party event is being organized in the wake of a senior state minister giving a controversial statement on a sensitive issue landing the saffron outfit in embarrassment.

A senior party functionary told this newspaper here on Monday that BJP national president JP Nadda may inaugurate the training camp on June 14.

Union home minister Amit Shah is likely to attend the closing session of the camp on June 16, the party functionary said, unwilling to be quoted.

Several Central party leaders and Union ministers may also attend the camp to provide tips to the MLAs on how to steer clear of controversies while giving statements on sensitive issues, sources said.

Sources said the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members of the party from Madhya Pradesh may also attend the camp.

According to sources, the training camp was due since the BJP government was formed in the state in December 2023. It could not be held so far due to the organizational elections in the party.

Sources said the party leadership felt the importance of holding the training camp in the wake of state tribal welfare minister Vijay Shah stirring a row by making some controversial remarks.

The minister made derogatory remarks targeting Colonel Sofya Qureshi while speaking at a function in Mhow in Indore district on May 11.

The supreme court has ordered a probe by a special investigation team (SIT) into the matter.

The minister has since offered an apology several times for his remarks.
