Hyderabad: Telangana witnessed widespread heavy rainfall on Monday, with multiple districts recording more than 100 mm of rainfall by 8 pm.According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), Ganneruvaram mandal in Karimnagar topped the chart with 114.3 mm of rainfall, followed closely by Gundala in Bhadradri Kothagudem and Nampalle in Rajanna Sircilla, both logging 107.8 mm. Thirumalapur in Jagtial received 102.8 mm, while Gudur in Jangaon and Mallur in Mulugu recorded 101 mm and 99.8 mm respectively. In total, 14 locations across the state received heavy rainfall in the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm.In the Greater Hyderabad region, moderate to light rainfall was recorded. Ramachandrapuram received the highest rainfall at 54.5 mm, followed by Patancheru at 40.3 mm. Gachibowli and its surroundings recorded between 20 and 22 mm, while areas such as Jubilee Hills, Lingampally, and Chandanagar saw between 19 and 21 mm. Localities including Banjara Hills, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, and Yousufguda received lighter spells ranging from 4 mm to 13 mm.The IMD issued an orange alert for Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jangaon, and Siddipet districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. A yellow alert is in place for Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, and Sangareddy.Officials cautioned that the downpour may lead to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, power outages, and temporary civic issues in low-lying areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions.
