It is no longer a secret that most Indian cricket fans are not happy with Shubman Gill being handed the test captaincy on a silver platter.
Their main criticisms stem from the fact that Gill has had a very poor test record to show for himself, especially in SENA countries.

While he could become a second MS Dhoni in the form of a young test captain, it still seems too far-fetched as Dhoni was a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, replicating whose path would be hard, to say the least.
A few months back Gill’s spot wasn’t even fixed in the Indian test playing XI. And now he would lead the side? This is what has snatched the sleep from many cricket fanatics’ eyes.

While some have called him ‘overrated’ and ‘useless’, others have called for a truce, pleading for the young talent to at least be given a chance before grilling him in the fire of trolling.
With anticipations at an all-time high, it will be interesting to see if Captain Gill can lead India I to a new era or if the cricket bandwagon loses control and nosedives into oblivion.
