WARANGAL: Kakatiya University vice-chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy on Tuesday said the university is currently developing five research centres and facilitating 65 project fellowships. The university has already been selected for RUSA 2.0 (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) — funds from which will be used to set up a knowledge hub, centre for entrepreneurship and an innovation cell on campus.
The university has already conducted undergraduate and postgraduate examinations for this year before other universities in Telangana.
“The faculty of all departments and students should work together to take the university forward,” said Prof. Reddy, accompanied by registrar Prof. V. Ramachander in a press meet at the university’s Senate Hall.
The V-C thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for increasing allocation from `98 crore to `144 crore, along with sanctioning of `50-crore development grants. “All the funds that are allocated are being used for infrastructure and academic improvements,” he said.
Reddy said the university has signed an MoU with NASSCOM and ITES and is planning to develop the P.V. Science Centre for research on social and economic development. A male and a female medical officer have been appointed at the university health centre for the students’ healthcare.
A three-day Telangana Science Congress will be conducted to celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year of the university. Proposals have been submitted to the Chief Minister for establishing a Golden Jubilee Academic Building and a Centenary Building for the university’s Arts and Science College.
As per the All India Council for Technical Education norms, new skill-based courses in engineering and pharmacy will be introduced along with the establishment of special cells to enhance life skills and language proficiency among the students.
Upcoming works at the university include building academic blocks, hostels, common mess for the women’s engineering college, separate residential facilities for tribal boys and girls and a compound wall for the university campus.
