SC Collegium Recommends To Bring Back Three Judges To Telangana HC


Hyderabad: The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai has recommended repatriation to the Telangana High Court, three judges who were earlier transferred to the High Courts in other states. At the same time, the Collegium also proposed to transfer acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Justice Sujoy Paul as judge of the Calcutta High Court.

In its recommendation to transfer and repatriate 21 High Court judges, the collegium recommended repatriating Karnataka High Court judges Justice C. Sumalatha and Justice Kanneganti Lalitha back to the Telangana High Court. It also recommended transferring Justice Annireddy Abhishek Reddy, currently judge of the Patna High Court, back to the Telangana High Court.

These three judges were earlier transferred from the Telangana High Court.

A statement uploaded on the apex court’s website said the Supreme Court Collegium at its meeting held on May 26 had recommended the transfers and repatriation of the judges.

The Collegium has also reportedly recommended the transfer Tripura High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. An official statement regarding is yet to be released. It is learnt from sources that one or two judges from the Telangana High Court would be transferred to other High Courts.
