Sikandar on Netflix: Salman’s PR Fooling Audience?

As Salman Khan’s Sikandar releases on Netflix, the internet is divided over how some people are actually enjoying a film that was a flop on the big screen.

Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi, was released theatrically on 30 March 2025, coinciding with Eid.

Following its theatrical release, the film struggled to cross 100 crore net in India and was considered an epic commercial disaster as the budget was Rs 200 crore budget.

Salman is on a streak of delivering disasters; with films like Race 3, Bharat, Dabangg 3, Radhe, Antim, Tiger 3, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and now Sikandar, fans and critics are wondering what went wrong with the star who used to deliver films that collected 100 crores net in just 3 days during 2015-2018.

With Sikandar now being re-released on Netflix, the internet has already started buzzing with trolls, yet some are still defending it, presumably none other than Salman’s PR team.

Social media is flooded with false reviews, with these defenders trying to convince viewers how the film is worth watching, how they really enjoyed it, and others should watch it too before rejecting it.

Some viewers quickly pointed out how these people are going above and beyond just to convince an audience to watch a flop in efforts to save Salman’s reputation.

This PR stunt to prevent any real reviews from actually surfacing in the news is the sole reason that makers ignore what the audience really wants and Salman continues signing terrible scripts.

If Salman truly wants to recreate the success of his past blockbusters, he should prioritize the quality of the content he makes instead of spending money on promoting mediocre films that the audience has already rejected.

Instead of trying to push away the negative reviews, Salman’s PR team should deliberately show them to him so that he understands what his audience expects of him.

As Salman gears up for new projects, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on past missteps and course-correct—before those triple-digit blockbusters start turning into back-to-back flops.
