Warangal: The 23rd Convocation Ceremony of Kakatiya University (KU) is scheduled to take place on July 7, informed the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K. Pratap Reddy.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, along with Registrar Prof. V. Ramachandram, he said that the university Chancellor, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, has given permission for organising the Convocation Ceremony.


As many as 573 gold medals to students and 546 PhD degrees to research scholars will be presented during the ceremony. The Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, Director Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy will be the chief guest at the ceremony, he noted.

The university budget has been increased from Rs. 98 crore to Rs. 144 crore, and a development grant of Rs. 50 crore has also been incorporated in the budget. The university has been selected for RUSA 2.0 funding, and the K-Hub will be established, along with a Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell at the university, Prof. Pratap Reddy said.

The university was the first in Telangana to conduct degree and PG examinations. Five research centres and 65 project fellowships have been sanctioned to the university. Skill-based courses in engineering and pharmacy will be introduced as per AICTE norms.

Cells will be set up to improve life skills and language skills among students. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) and ITES for the development of student skills.

The University Health Centre has been strengthened by appointing one male and one female medical officer. Measures have been initiated to put the university on the path of progress. The academic environment has been strengthened with the cooperation of students and faculty, the VC added.
