Telangana: CDMA order copy appointing municipal commissioner for Kothagudem Municipal Corporation riddled with mistakes

Kothagudem: The State government has issued orders initiating the official process for upgrading Kothagudem Municipality into Kothagudem Municipal Corporation and the copy of the proceedings issued by CDMA was riddled with mistakes.

Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration TK Sreedevi on May 28 issued orders appointing Paloncha Municipal Commissioner K Sujatha as Commissioner (full additional charge) of Kothagudem Municipal Corporation.

Yellandu Municipal Commissioner Ch Srikanth was made special officer of Kothagudem Municipal Council.

However, the orders mentioned that the municipal council was located in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Further, the gender of Paloncha Municipal Commissioner Sujatha is misrepresented twice in the order copy referring to her as a male. The order copy which was shared on local social media groups attracted severe criticism against the officials’ negligence in drafting the orders.

The newly appointed Municipal Commissioner was asked to take complete charge from special officers of seven gram panchayats of Sujatha Nagar mandal that were merged with the corporation.

Paloncha Municipal Commissioner Sujatha was directed to extend her (order copy says his) cooperation and hand over complete charge of the Paloncha municipality to Commissioner of Kothagudem Municipal Corporation. In this case, both the roles are played by a single official.

The Municipal Commissioner of Kothagudem Corporation was further asked to submit a compliance report by June 10 without fail. She was also told to put up a name board for the Kothagudem Municipal Corporation office building.

It might be noted that the State government created Kothagudem Municipal Corporation by merging Kothagudem and Paloncha municipalities along with Nayukulagudem, Lakshmidevipalli, Komatipalli, Nimmalagudem, Mangapet, Narsimhasagar and Sujatha Nagar gram panchayats of Sujatha Nagar mandal. The Telangana Municipalities (Amendment) Bill-2025 was passed in the Assembly on March 24 for the purpose.
