Rs 368-Crore Infrastructure Boost: Hyderabad Plans Flyovers, Underpass in Banjara Hills (AI-Generated, Representative Image)

Mumbai News: Traffic woes in Banjara Hills are likely to end, with the Telangana government planning three major road projects. This includes a two-lane flyover, a two-lane underpass, and a three-lane flyover. All of them will be unidirectional, officials close to the project said. The project aims to ease traffic bottlenecks at NFCL and TV9 junctions by building modern flyovers and an underpass, improving travel in one of Hyderabad’s busiest areas.

The construction work will be taken under Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) programme. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be responsible for the completion of the three projects, reported The New Indian Express.

What will be built?

  1. NFCL Junction Flyover
    • A two-lane one-way flyover from Road No. 3 in Banjara Hills towards GVK Mall.
    • It will be 8.5 metres wide, allowing smoother traffic flow above the road.
    • The design includes a viaduct (a bridge-like structure) and reinforced wall approaches to support the flyover.
  2. TV9 Junction Underpass
    • A two-lane underpass for traffic moving from NFCL Junction towards Srinagar Colony.
    • The project will be 10 metres wide. It will also have space for vehicles, footpaths, and drainage ducts.
    • An underground water sump, with a capacity of 2 lakh litre, will be built to manage rainwater and prevent flooding.
  3. TV9 Junction Flyover
    • This will be a three-lane one-way flyover spanning Mugdha Junction to NFCL Junction on Road No. 3.
    • It will be built 12 metres wide, and will have features similar to the first flyover.

Cost and Project Details:

  • According to officials, the estimated cost of the three projects will be around Rs 368 crore.
  • These projects are being built under H-CITI plan, for which the government has approved Rs 5,942 crore.
  • A one-year defect liability period will apply – if any issues arise in the first year after completion, the contractor must fix them.
