New Renault Kwid EV Spied

The new-generation Renault Kwid EV was recently spotted once again in India. This time, the electric hatchback was heavily camouflaged and seen being transported on a flatbed near the Chennai airport. The Kwid EV is sold as a Dacia Spring EV in select global markets, and its new-generation model was unveiled early last year. The new Spring EV, which previews the next-generation Kwid EV, comes with significantly improved design and upmarket interior.

Is It Coming To India?

Renault has confirmed three major products for the Indian market including the third-generation Duster, Boreal 7-seater SUV (essentially the 7-seater Duster) and an A-segment EV. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the name of the upcoming electric car, considering its segment it is expected to be the Kwid EV. An official confirmation is still pending.

New Renault Kwid EV Spied

Renault Kwid EV Battery & Range:

Similar to the Dacia Spring EV, the electric Kwid is expected to be offered with a 26.8kWh battery pack and two electric motor options – 44bhp and 64bhp. Both setups will deliver a maximum range of 220km on a single charge. The smaller electric motor will be available on the entry-level and mid-spec trims, while the more powerful motor will be reserved for higher trims.

Charging Time:

The Kwid EV will support both standard 7kW AC and 30kW DC fast charging. Using a 7kW wall box charger, it will take nearly 4 hours to charge from 20% to 100%. It can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 45 minutes by using a 30kW DC fast charger.
