South Africa Bowler and Bangla Batter’s Brawl

A video showing a violent exchange between South Africa and Bangladesh cricketers is going viral across social media platforms. Here’s what happened.

The incident occured during a four-day Test match between Bangladesh Emerging team and South Africa Emerging team at Dhaka. On Wednesday, Bangladesh batter Ripon Mondol struck a six off South African bowler Tshepo Ntuli. Soon after that, the batsman walking down the track towards the non-striker – Mehidy Hasan, he gave a stare to the bowler. Both of them exchanged stares with the Ntuli quickly losing his temper and stormed at him.

The two exchanged words before Ntuli went overboard to grab and violently pull the helmet of the batter, twice.

On field umpire Kamruzzaman wasted no time as he rushed to de-escalate the matter only to fail. His efforts to stop the disturbance were completely ignored and other South African players also joined Ntuli as they charged at the Bangla batter and warned him.

What Happens now:

The on field umpires are yet to submit a report on the incident. Once they submit their report, both the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) will receive an official report from the match referee before a final action is taken, according to ESPNCricinfo.
