As many as 54 government schools in Nellore city constituency will be made as model schools, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana said while speaking to the media after inspecting the ongoing renovation works at VRC High School in Nellore on Friday.
He said, “The State government will further improve the standards of education in government schools during the coming days. With an aim to provide digital education to poor students, VRC High School is being renovated at a cost of ₹15 crore. The project is being carried out by NCC company without compromising on quality standards.”
The Minister examined the design of the sports court to be set up in the playground and made several suggestions. He said that many people who studied at VRC High School are presently at higher positions. He said that this institution has provided many public servants to the society. He recalled that in 2014, he and his staff provided IIT coaching to 300 people here.
“However, the previous government has attempted to shut down such a school due to lack of awareness. The previous rulers of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) lacked maturity in administration. The State’s financial situation had deteriorated due to their incompetent governance,” he alleged.
He said that the previous government had incurred a debt of ₹10 lakh crore. After the coalition government came to power, the State is moving towards good governance. Minister Nara Lokesh has announced to provide jobs to 20 lakh people in the State and inviting industries to improve the employment opportunities here, Mr. Narayana said.
