Police Book YSRC Leaders Over Damage to TD Mahanadu Flexis

Anantapur: Kadapa district’s Pulivendula police have registered cases against 15 persons, including Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy’s PA Raghava Reddy and Pulivendula municipal chairman Varaprasad, for destruction of Telugu Desam Mahanadu’s flexi boards and banners.

Raghava Reddy was accused number 1 and Varaprasad is A 5. The duo and others have been booked after TD leaders filed a complaint.

There has been friction between TD and YSRC activists in Pulivendula from Wednesday night after flexi boards of TD Mahanadu had been found destroyed.

Inquiries revealed YSRC cadres destroyed the flexi boards saying they had been put up in a manner that they covered up late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s statues in Pulivendula, the home turf of former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Pulivendula TD in-charge B. Tech Ravi took the matter seriously and lodged a complaint against the removal of flexi boards of Mahanadu. Around the same time, Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy and the Pulivendula municipal chairman tried to stage a protest blaming TD for targeting YSR statues.

Following this, police put under house arrest several YSRC leaders in Pulivendula on Wednesday night to avoid untoward incidents during the Mahanadu.

Though Mahanadu has ended peacefully, Pulivendula remains tense.
