Hyderabad: A minor parking issue at an apartment complex in Kothapet snowballed into a confrontation resulting in the death of a 45-year-old real estate businessman. The incident, which took place on May 21, came to light only on Friday after neighbours pressed authorities for updates. Police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the accused, who is on the run.The deceased, G Nagi Reddy, was a resident of New Vaishnavi Ruthika Apartments and also served as president of the residents’ welfare association. Nagi Reddy reportedly got into an altercation with Krishna Javvaji, son-in-law of another resident, over a car parking incident.According to police, the confrontation began around 4.15 pm when Nagi Reddy’s car is believed to have brushed against Krishna’s parked vehicle. “Nagi Reddy had parked his car very close to Krishna’s, which may have caused a minor scratch. After parking, Nagi Reddy went up to his flat. Krishna then sent the apartment watchman’s son to call him down,” said Chaitanyapuri inspector G Venkateshwara Rao.Nagi Reddy went downstairs, where an argument ensued. “I heard my husband arguing and went out to see what was happening. I noticed a black mark on his shirt and blood oozing from his ear. He soon started frothing at the mouth. With the help of neighbours, we rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” said his wife, Annapurna. She lodged a complaint with police alleging that Krishna had physically assaulted her husband resulting in his death. Chaitanyapuri police registered a case under section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Krishna on the night of May 21.The inspector confirmed that CCTV footage showed a scuffle between the two men. “Both the victim and the accused physically confronted each other. The footage shows Krishna pushing Nagi Reddy, who fell to the ground but got up immediately. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report,” he added.Krishna had reportedly come to the apartment to visit his pregnant wife, who was staying with her parents for the past month-and-a-half. Following the incident, Krishna fled in his car. His in-laws also vacated the apartment and have not been reachable since.“The accused and his family have switched off their phones. We believe his in-laws are from Rajahmundry, and we do not have any specific details about the accused. Efforts are on to trace and apprehend the accused,” said the inspector.
