When Kalki 2898 AD released last year, the audience was divided — but Arshad Warsi didn’t hold back at all.

After watching the whole movie, he said he was “very disappointed” and was expecting a Mad Max film.

But what caught everyone’s attention was his comment on Prabhas. Arshad said it was “sad to see Prabhas looking like a joker.”

That one line triggered a massive trolling and backlash from fans across the country.

Social media was flooded. Prabhas fans were furious. For them, it wasn’t just a celebrity sharing an opinion — it was an insult to one of their biggest stars.

Even now, months later, that comment hasn’t been forgotten. For some, it was an unpardonable sin. Others just waited for an opportunity to hit back.

That opportunity came this week when SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) banned Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria Goretti from trading in the stock market for a year.

Reason? They were involved in a stock market manipulation case related to Sadhna Broadcast Ltd, now called Crystal Business System Ltd.

According to SEBI’s final report, Arshad and Maria earned ₹41.7 lakh and ₹50.35 lakh respectively from a “pump-and-dump” scam.

This scheme involved inflating the price of Sadhna Broadcast shares and then selling them once the price shot up — right after misleading stock tip videos were posted on YouTube to fool regular investors.

YouTube channels like Moneywise, The Advisor, and Profit Yatra — all linked to the accused Manish Mishra — posted promotional videos to create fake hype.

Once the price rose due to this false buzz, the accused quietly offloaded their shares for a big profit, leaving everyday investors at a loss.

In total, SEBI has ordered 59 entities to return a combined ₹58 crore, along with 12% interest per year until the full amount is repaid. Arshad and Maria are among them.

The moment this news went public, Prabhas fans pounced. Screenshots of Arshad’s old comments resurfaced.

Memes, jokes and angry posts flooded social media again — only this time, fans felt like justice had been served.

Many called it karma, while others joked that “the real joker has been exposed.”Of course, Arshad’s market ban has nothing to do with his comments on Kalki 2898 AD. But online, it’s all about perception.

Fans didn’t forget what he said. And when something bad happened, people connected the dots — whether it was relevant or not.

This whole episode is a big reminder that words stick — especially when you’re a public figure. What you say in one interview can come back months later in a totally different situation.

For Arshad, this is a serious legal and financial issue. But for Prabhas fans, it’s a full circle moment — and they aren’t going to let it go.
