Hyderabad: In an inspiring display of honesty and commitment to public service, staff members of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) have returned lost valuables worth nearly Rs 19 lakh to passengers in three separate incidents this month.
Recognising their exemplary conduct, TGSRTC managing director VC Sajjanar felicitated the honest employees—Anjaiah, Yakub Pasha, Mubeen and Ramesh—at a special ceremony held at Hyderabad Bus Bhavan.
The incidents, which occurred on different routes and dates, highlight the integrity of TGSRTC conductors and drivers, who went above and beyond their duty to ensure that passengers’ belongings were safely recovered and returned.
Rs 6 lakh worth gold jewellery forgotten on Suryapet bus
On May 25, a woman travelling on a Suryapet-Hyderabad bus accidentally left her bag behind.
Upon reaching the Suryapet bus station, conductor K Anjaiah and diver Yakub Pasha discovered the bag containing gold jewellery valued at Rs 6 lakh and a mobile phone. The staff promptly handed over the bag to the depot authorities, who returned it to the rightful owner.

Rs 8 lakh worth of gold jewellery left on Pushpak
In another case on May 15, a female passenger forgot a bag containing Rs 8 lakh worth of gold jewellery on a Pushpak airport bus heading from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Lingampally. Driver Mubeen found the bag near Alwyn Cross Road and handed it over to the Miyapur-2 depot officials. The passenger was later reunited with her belongings.
Cash and laptop left on the bus were returned
In a third incident, also on May 25, a male passenger left a bag containing Rs 3.5 lakh in cash, two gold bangles, and a laptop—valued at a total of Rs 5 lakh—on an airport bus near Shilparamam. The bag was spotted by driver Ramesh, who ensured it was returned through proper official channels.
“These acts of integrity not only reflect the character of our staff but also reinforce the public’s trust in RTC,” said Sajjanar. “They have shown that it’s possible to combine professional efficiency with a deep sense of responsibility and humanity.”
The RTC staff’s actions have received praise from both the public and higher officials, serving as a shining example of ethics in public service.
