BHPian SID131 recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Sometimes, the best trips are the ones that come together at the very last minute – and that’s exactly how our weekend escape to Taki was born. Four families, two cars, and one shared craving for a break from the city. But, as any seasoned traveler knows, weekend gateways come with their own set of hurdles. Ours ? Finding four rooms at Hotel Sonar Bangla Taki on the long weekend of 12th April 2025 with Amedkar Jayanti on 14th April 2025. With most rooms booked out, we were almost ready to reconsider the plan – until one of our Travel Buddy with right connections stepped in and worked some magic with the hotel. Thanks to him, the trip was back on track with 4 rooms for 1 night at Sonar Bangla. On the morning of 12th April we rolled out our two solid machines : his feature – packed Mahindra XUV 700 and my trusty Jolly Roger (Bolero Neo N10) – the perfect pair to tackle the 70 kms of state highway to Taki. The drive was mostly slow due to heavy traffic and congestion at local markets , the average speed being 40 Km per hour through Bantala > Ghatakpukur > Golaghata to Taki. The last 5 kms stretch to the hotel is narrow and broken, hence careful driving is recommended. Full moon night on our way back… Taki may not be a far flung destination, but its quieter charm and laid back vibe make it a perfect weekend escape.
